Obama’s press news conference

Did he really say that his budget cuts the deficit in half during his first term? He says the CBO, his team, and other forecasts at their ‘most conservative estimates’ show the deficit decreasing at the end of his term. Yet, the CBO (non-partisan group made up mostly of democrats btw) is the exact group who said that this budget increases the deficit $1 trillion/year for the next 10 years. And those are the conservative estimates by the way from the CBO. How does he really expect the American people to buy this garbage from his mouth? He keeps blaming the past administration yet he was the one who said the blame ‘must stop.’

Its quite time that Obama owns up to the fact that the last player is no longer in the batter box and the fact of the matter is that its a 1 run difference late in the ballgame. Does he keep looking over his shoulder at the bench or does he stare down the pitcher and try to at least get on base and live to fight another batter? The bat is in his hands now…

He says he “likes to know what he is talking about before he speaks”.

Yeah, of course he does? That’s why it took him 3 days to respond at all about the AIG bonuses. He is just way over his head and is playing the game without the proper knowledge or equipment. Let me ask…what’s wrong with making money in America if its done legitimately? The AIG exec who resigned demonstrates this issue to a ‘T’.

That AIG executive resigned because the way he was trying to make money as you say is by stealing TARP money: Taxpayer’s money. That is legitimate but is it morally correct?

Let us just hope and pray to GOD that “U.S.” as a nation speaks out and stays tea’d off.

Let’s talk numbers instead of farting in the wind like everyone else is doing here

    deficit in 2009: $1.4 trillion
    deficit in 2013: $642 billion

difference: $ 758 billion which is more than half .

President Obama was actually being modest in telling the truth

and Bush average deficit was appx $300 billion. spending ramped up when Dems took control of congress. its why they rammed through stimulus, welfare changes and obamacare. to overload the system as quickly as possible. Then the wave election swept GOP in which they maintained control of in 2012. They control the purse strings…and lets not forget that obama came up with the sequester but he wasnt actually thinking the GOP would accept it since it guttted military and DoD. Now, the reason we are here today at this budget impasse has a lot to do with sequester. most dems claim that obamacare is the law of the land so dont mess with it. but sequester is the law of the land to. so which law do you break?

Bush was also under reporting the deficits he was creating. Additionally, in 2009 the country was falling apart from all the failed Bush policies. Two unnecessary and unpaid wars. There were no weapons of Mass Destruction but you did turned a deaf ear to that right? We still don’t know the full cost of the war in Irak. Nor do we know the cost of the war in Afghanistan, tell me again why did we go into Afghanistan??? Republicans screwed up the economy every time they were in power and you want to criticize Democrats when faced with cleaning up the mess left by Republicans. The debt ceiling has been raised 78 times since 1960, 49 of those times by Republicans so why are you lying to yourself about conservatism. I believe all politicians are crooked but none like the phonies you represent and defend so vehemently.

Ernie – if by “failed Bush policies” you mean the housing collapse then that was a failed Jimmy Carter policy that was doubled down on under Bill Clinton policy, that carried over to Bush. You seem to forget Greenspan in all of this, which is ironic since he served under Clinton to light the fuse in the housing inferno. I was in the MBS history for 12 years and worked for the nations largest home lender as well, so I have some expertise in that matter. Doesn’t make me the end all be all by any means but it does give me good view from which to speak about.

As to the Bush Wars. Let’s remember the overwhelming support congress/senate gave for both wars. House was 298 – 133. Senate 77-23. I did not turn a deaf ear to the no WMD’s. Are you a fan of James Clapper, now Obama’s NSA director? He said in an interview with The Washington Times in 2004 that “I think probably in the few months running up prior to the onset of combat that … there was probably an intensive effort to disperse into private homes, move documentation and materials out of the country. I think there are any number of things that they would have done.” Also, in case you were absent when the WikiLeaks dump occurred there all kinds of reports of our troops finding WMD’s or the chemical agents/labs used to make them. http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2007/07/iraq-wmds-and-truth.html

Did your beloved and know-it-all media tell you these things? Nope. It doesnt fit the narrative. But if you happened to actually investigate other nations papers and military information releases you will find that the Syrian rebel use of WMD’s on the people of Damascus was a large scale use of an agent that is yet to be determined as to its genesis. However, since the predominant logic holds that Saddam sent over 60 sorties and 50 trucks north to Syria in the lead up to the Iraq invasion and into the hands of the Sunni tribes and rebels that would help ‘gas’ the kurds as Saddam had done after our first invasion, then it doesnt take a genius to connect dots.

Republicans “screwed up the economy” huh? This is an argument that cannot be won or lost. You will see it solely as Bush and republicans fault because you fail to understand how government and the federal reserve, in all likelihood, works.

As for the debt ceiling…let me first say I don’t represent any of the two main political parties. In fact, there isn’t a party that fits what I am. But you can project what you wish. The debt ceiling may be absurd. I will not deny or agree to that point. There is good and bad inherently in seeing it from both sides. However, democrats are able to claim that the reason why they spent so much was to save a depression from occurring. Sadly, its a counter factual for one can never demonstrate what the effects of not raping american’s pocket books and from future generations would have held if limited targeted spending had been done or nothing at all. So, the 2007/2008 democratically controlled house and senate and immediately the spending increased. Did Bush sign them into law? Yes. Unfortunately by that time he had become a lame duck. his approval rating was abysmal, hovering in the mid 30’s. The media hated him and constantly ran stories daily to lead CNN, MSNBC and nightly news broadcasts of how many soldiers died that day. Under Obama, that all stopped. Why? We have lost more soldiers since Obama took office by 1200+ than the entirety of Bush. Is a dead soldier worth less under Obama than Bush so therefore its not news worthy. Are the wars in Iraq / Afghanistan over? Did Obama promise to end both wars in his first term? Did he do a “surge” in Afghanistan that he opposed under Bush in Iraq? The hypocrisy from the left on these matters is astounding. But also one that i do not ever see being washed away. You hold to a belief that everything is Bush or GOP fault, yet seemingly believe that democrats can do no wrong, although claiming that “all politicians are crooked”.

Obama was about to go into Syria before Republicans stopped him. Were you supportive of that? He was going to send $2 billion in military aid to Egypt, did you support that? We used military for an unconstitutional conflict in Libya to topple Khadafi. Were you supportive of that?

I am more than happy to continue a debate with you but lets not have revisionist history of the facts. But let’s rather debate and provide discourse that demonstrates 1) that both sides are too blame, 2) who deserves more fault for what issue and 3) the proper role of government.
